On May 17th, 2024, Mars Petcare US announced that they were voluntarily recalling 315 bags of one of their popular dog food products. The FDA published this recall the following day. The recall indicates that the food could potentially contain loose metal pieces.
What Product Was Recalled?
Mars Petcare US recalled PEDIGREE® Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food. Only 44-pound bags with a best-by date of March 4, 2025, and a lot code of 410B2TXT02 were affected. No other products were included.
You can find the best-by date and lot code on the bottom seal on the back of the dog food bag. Luckily, there are currently no reports of illness or injury related to this food.
Mars Petcare US is currently making sure all recalled products are removed from pet supply stores. This food was shipped to Walmart locations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Ingesting metal pieces could lead to severe health concerns in pets. So, if your dog ate some of this food, monitor their behaviors closely and alert your vet if anything seems out of the ordinary. It's always better to be safe than sorry with your furry friend's health.
What to Do if You Have the Recalled Food
